Today we remember the courageous American servicemen who lost their lives in the attack on Pearl Harbor on this day in 1941. More than 2,400 Americans were killed, including 50 servicemen from Illinois. They were among “the greatest generation” of whom so much has been written over the years.
Today, on the 71st anniversary of the tragedy which sparked America’s entrance into World War II, we honor the memory of those who gave their lives as well as those who survived and went on to serve with bravery and distinction during the war that followed. Please join me today in thanking all our veterans for their service to our country as we remember those who died at Pearl Harbor.
