The inauguration for new and returning members of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 98th General Assembly will take place at 12:00pm on Wednesday, January 9 at the University of Illinois at Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium. Elections for Speaker of the House and House Minority Leader will take place after the swearing-in ceremony, presided over by Secretary of State Jesse White. Inaugural ceremonies for new and returning members of the Illinois Senate will take place in the Senate chamber in the Capitol.
