“Illinois needs jobs and economic growth. Expanding the fracking industry will create more jobs in addition to growing our economy. Fracking has occurred in Illinois for decades. Today’s announcement came to fruition after months of negotiations with all stakeholders. The legislation we have developed will allow the fracking industry to increase production in addition to being one the most regulated industries in the nation. Safeguards have been put into place to protect our water supply which includes existing water wells, bodies of water, and public water supplies. This is a bill that has been worked on to find the best common ground to ensure a thriving industry has an opportunity to work and provide jobs as well as protect our environment.”
