Despite the persistent dissent between the Democratic leaders of Illinois and the Governor, they have managed to accomplish a string of legislative successes while fighting to protect the taxpayers of Illinois.
As we continue to face the current economic downturn , the Illinois House Republicans have stood strong against increasing your taxes including unanimously voting no on the recent Democrat fueled 66ncome and corporate tax increase. In addition, the House Republicans were the first to propose a zero growth budget plan.
Working for safer roads, schools and neighborhoods, the House Republican Caucus placed a high priority on public safety, successfully passing a number of common sense measures, which included legislation that aims at creating safer driving conditions by suspending teen driving privileges for three months if convicted of consuming alcohol.
The House Republican Caucus also passed legislation prohibiting sex offenders from using the internet to contact children or going to county fairs. It also provides for the ability to prosecute the offense of indecent solicitation of a child via the Internet, and creates provisions for the real-time interception of child pornography on the Internet.
